last piece for KCW

i managed to finish one more project for the kid's clothes week challenge. i have a jacket started, but did not have the time to finish yet because i spent one day being sick, and lazy. boo!
this piece is from another japanese book. i found inspiration from an image via pinterest.
original at a wonderful shop, with great prices too!

nightgown

when we were visiting san francisco last fall, i picked up a few japanese pattern books. two of the books are in english and the rest in japanese. this pattern was from a book in english. it came together very easily, and quickly, but i was surprised to find i like sewing from the books written in japanese more- it feels more intuitive.

i couldn't believe the light when taking these photos at suki's bedtime. it seems just weeks ago it was dark hours before the bedtime began. i guess spring really is here.

lazy days skirt and socks

to start the sewing week off i made a couple simple skirts. suki loves to wear skirts always, especially with shirts, pants, even dresses that do not match. she likes a lot of layers and pattern so much. i used the lazy days skirt as a guide, but hemmed the bottom rather than using a ribbon to finish it.

i also finished the toddler socks from purl bee. i was not sure if suki would actually wear them, but she seemed very happy when i presented them to her today, even wearing them for a couple hours! she has very narrow feet so they slipped around a lot on her. i am new to knitting, but i wonder if there is a way to make the pattern more narrow. any advice?

KCW

HELLO!

adam has been giving me extra time in my studio this week to make some spring/summer clothes for suki. i was inspired by this challenge, and thought i would join in. can't wait to share what i am working on. i made the dress suki is wearing in these photos for easter- a very quick sew from a japanese book.

special day

during the month of march suki went to a weekly art camp at our local children's museum. after the last class, they had an opening to showcase the children's work on the walls and in personal portfolios. suki was very excited to share her work with friends and family in such a fun way.

her painting is the fourth over on the left. here she is sharing her portfolio with adam- so proud!

after the show and some play time in the museum, we headed over to a coffee shop for a hot cocoa treat.

then ended our outing with a stop at the flower shop.

she picked tulips- red and orange.
