to start the sewing week off i made a couple simple skirts. suki loves to wear skirts always, especially with shirts, pants, even dresses that do not match. she likes a lot of layers and pattern so much. i used the lazy days skirt as a guide, but hemmed the bottom rather than using a ribbon to finish it.
i also finished the toddler socks from purl bee. i was not sure if suki would actually wear them, but she seemed very happy when i presented them to her today, even wearing them for a couple hours! she has very narrow feet so they slipped around a lot on her. i am new to knitting, but i wonder if there is a way to make the pattern more narrow. any advice?
You can do a few things to make the feet more narrow! You can rib the top of the foot which will make a pattern such as k1, p1 that pulls it in a little tighter. Or just continue in the pattern that is given at the Purl Bee (for the top of the foot). Alternatively, you can keep decreasing at the gusset instead of stopping when you have the number of stitches the pattern gives you. ie, turn the line Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until 44 (52) total stitches remain. into until 40 or 34 stitches remain.
ReplyDeletethank you! i like the idea of ribbing the foot. the added texture there is exactly what they need.
DeleteThis all makes me so happy! Your fabric choices and colours are perfect!
