predictions for snow

the weather report shows that snow is on the way. yay, more hot cocoa time coming up! suki has been dreaming of making a snowman and a "snowboy". i can't wait to see her face when we make her first snowman (and boy). it will be adam's first snowman, too. he is from california.

p.s. what do you like to listen to on snow days? i am putting together a snow day mix, and i hope to figure out a way to share it with you. this will be on the list.

summer babe and how to rent a room are especially important to me. i will always remember driving late at night from the suburbs of grand rapids to a coffee shop in eastown very late at night with my best friend colin. he would typically play slanted and enchanted or the natural bridge and i had never heard either record before. i grew to know and love both records exclusively through these drives and they have been two of my favorite records ever. colin moved away after high school and is rarely around now, so these album (and these two songs, specifically) make me feel like he's around again, like i'm still very young and growing up. of course all these drives were in the dead of winter, in 2006. 11 pm to 4 am.

The daytrotter sessions with The Walkmen...all Leonard Cohen covers. Great winter music.
